Yoram Eckstein, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized hydrogeologist with 50-years of broad professional experience. He is a full professor at Kent State University (KSU) where he teaches courses in surface and ground-water hydrology, environmental geology, and contamination. Concurrently, he serves as an expert advisor to private and governmental agencies and provides litigation support in cases of water and soil contamination. Prior to joining KSU he served 16-years as a hydrogeologist for the Geological Survey of Israel.
Dr. Eckstein's interests and expertise span a wide variety of subjects in hydrogeology and environmental quality (e.g., aquifer delineation and testing, acid rain, arid zone hydrology, contamination of water resources, modeling of ground-water flow and transport, effects of coal mining practices on water resources, public and private water wells, etc.). His clients have included: Republic of Korea, Ministry of Forestry and Agriculture (1966), Iran Ministry of Agriculture (1968-69), Los Alamos National Laboratory (1978-81), Nicaragua Ministry of Energy (1978-79). He served as a Visiting Scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1974-75) and as a Visiting Professor at Mining and Metallurgy University of Cracow, Poland (1987), Warsaw University, Poland (1989-90), Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Baku, Azerbaijan (2000-01), University of King Hassan II, Mohammedia, Morocco (2002), University of Belgrade, Serbia (2005) and Tomsk Polytechnic University, Tomsk, Russian Federation (2009).
Dr. Eckstein has published numerous peer-reviewed articles. He serves as an Associate Editor to Water International and Journal of Hydrogeology. He is fluent and has published in four languages: English, Polish, Russian and Hebrew.
